Item Description...
In his latest book, Reposition Yourself, bestselling author T.D. Jakes shares insights that will help readers adjust to the many changes that life brings. This is a shrill wake-up call to take charge of your life now. Not only does it confront areas where subtle passivity or even poor choices may have stifled the reader's creativity, but it also instructs how to manage change and maximize life now. Using wisdom collected from his more than thirty years of counseling and working with everyday and high-profile people, Jakes covers financial, relational, and spiritual creativity and shows how adapting to transitional moments in your life is the path to an enriched existence filled with contentment at every stage.
Reposition Yourself offers reality-based plans for those seeking to make the years ahead even more productive. Jakes accepts the inevitability of change, teaching how to embrace and expect it rather than fear it. Mixing both sacred and secular insights, he shares a unique blend of practical and pragmatic steps coupled with the sage wisdom of Scripture for which he is noted.
This new book is without question a makeover for the soul. It gives you permission to succeed and the how-to's necessary to position yourself for the limitless potential that comes from making minor adjustments in your thinking and plans. Jakes believes there is nothing more important than your next decision. Before you make another choice, this is a must-read!

 | Insightful! Feb 18, 2008 |
T.D. Jakes is a great orator and no one can simplify and explain how to Reposition better than the master himself! The opening of the book was powerful! I immediately began thinking who I would invite to my "own" intervention. I could not think of one aspect of my life that was not touched. T.D. Jakes asked the question "If we thought he was qualified" to write the book? I say "YES" his life, his insight makes no one else more qualified. I definitely must preserve my family history and pass on the "valuable traits" I have gained from my ancestors and community to future generation. I realize that this book is a "handbook" that must be re-visited again and again! I finished the book knowing that this was not the end. I must challenge myself to continue growing. Thanks T.D. Jakes for the insightful words.and for reminding me that inspiration is what "ignites" the path for "Repositioning"! I encourge anyone and everyone to read this book it crosses all gender, race and religious lines; its a book for everyone!
| | | | No hype - just straight talk Feb 8, 2008 |
| TD Jakes delivers real talk in his latest book. It provides true strategies and sound advice for those looking for something "better... bigger ...wider...higher" (as Jill Scott would say). To get the most out of this book true self reflection and a desire to change must ensue followed by an action plan for personal fulfillment. Jakes wisely advises readers to take it one step at a time. ...great book to have or get the CD for your commute. | | | | Disappointed Jan 18, 2008 |
| I love TD Jakes, but this book was disappointing. It talked all around the subject of repositioning yourself, but it never really got around to detail of how to do it. I did not find it helpful. | | | | Not even close to 4 stars! Jan 7, 2008 |
My first criticism of the book; revolves around the assertion that African kids are hungry for education, implying that our kids have somehow dropped the ball. When the truth is we never had the ball to begin with. I have love for my African brothers and sisters, but how can you equate what we have been through, and continue to endure as African Americans, to the African experience. That somehow cheapens our struggle. It is like saying, the 300+ years of slavery and oppression were not enough. For many us, even when we get the education we are marginalized, disenfranchised, underemployed, and or undervalued in the workplace (through no fault of our own). We don't get the luxury of hitting the glass ceiling; the glass ceiling is lowered to meet us halfway up. If I/we weren't hungry there would have been no Civil Rights Movement, there wouldn't be a Jackie Robinson, Medgar Evers, a Cornel West, or even a T.D. Jakes. If we weren't hungry many, of us would not eat. Another area of the book I found to be objectionable was that the book stressed education, as if it is the only road to obtaining a better life, yet the people who names were dropped as examples had no degree at all. I had a boss who as an insult would say to me "I am no Tiger Woods". The fact is that "Tiger Woods is no me!" Anyone can play golf, let's see him earn a degree, and get job and keep it. For the record, Tiger Woods does not have a degree nor does Michael Jordan. I read this book in hopes it would give me some insight on my own place. I realize how powerful repositioning can be. I was disappointed that the book did not make reference to playing the position that you have. Just as the rich man climbed the tree, some of us have already been blessed, without climbing the tree. The real lesson of life is to know when to, and when not to, and when to just play the position. If you talk about repositioning, I think you have to devote some time to just playing the position you have. In spite of my criticisms I found the book to be a pleasant and entertaining read. Everyone wants to move beyond where they are in life. I found the book to be a bit to simplistic, although the title is especially captivating there is little substance here. While reading this book it became apparent that the people whom are most likely to read this book are beyond this point of growth and development. This book is excellent for teens.

| this site sent an email if I were interested in rating/reviewing this title. Actually, this was a gift. I despise any Christian writer or any religious writer for that matter. Religion poison's the mind, glancing through this title I didn't get any feeling of great or impressive literature. Is all ideology based mainly by author's opinions. Don't get me wrong, Science is all theory based and not the TRUTH about anything, but when it comes to stories, I'll stick to those I make up myself. | | | Write your own review about Reposition Yourself
